In a bruising trade war between US & China, the latest event that has come to picture is the imposition of tariffs on each other’s goods – according to Channel NewsAsia (CNA).

The report shared that U.S President Trump mentioned that the sides would meet for talks later this month. It said: “His main objective is to reduce the heavy reliance on China and suggested American companies to find suppliers outside of China.”

On that note, most of the Asean markets fell on Monday (2 September) due to the stated event.

Adding to the Asean market situation, there was also a substantial impact on the property firms and Macau’s casino that eventually increased worries for Hong Kong about a possible Chinese intervention in the financial hub post the weekend of violence.
