Singapore, South Korea Lead In Robot Production, Hits Record US$16.5b In Robot Density

There will be an expected 39% rise in the annual sales level from US16.5b last year in robot shipments from the year 2018-2022. More than 420,000 robots were installed last year and that figure is expected to jump to 584,000 by 2022. In 2013, the number of robots in place was 178,000, as mentioned in the articled released by The Business Times.

According to Junji Tsuda, president of the International Federation of Robotics, it was a dynamic performance in 2018 even though the automotive and electronics industry had a difficult year. The customers tend to postpone their investments as the US-China trade conflict imposed uncertainty to the global economy. 

In 2013, the number of robots in place was 178,000. The number of robots installed last year were more than 420,000 and it is expected to jump to 584,000 by the year 2022.

Singapore and South Korea hold a considerable lead in highly-automated industrial production in terms of robot density, or number of robots per 10,000 manufacturing employees.
