Reflect on the Year

Before you say goodbye to 2017, take the time to sit down and think about the year. Why were you not able to complete your 2017 resolutions? Was it your lack of self-motivation? Or the ‘lack’ of time? Making a list of what went wrong not only helps you to see what hindered you, but also lets you understand what needs to be changed.

Keep it Simple

Don’t bite off more than you can chew. You may be tempted to write down a million different resolutions, but avoid falling into that trap! Having too many goals often clouds our vision, or overwhelms us, and we don’t want that happening in 2018. After all, we want to accomplish these resolutions. Instead, jot down 5 specific resolutions, and you’re good to go.

Break Them Down

Come up with a plan! Breaking down your specific resolutions into smaller tasks and jotting it down can help you to fulfill your resolutions. If saving a certain amount of money is your goal, plan ahead, and calculate how much money you would have to put away each month. If keeping fit is your goal, decide which days you are going to the gym in advance. That way, you’re committing yourself to something, and you’re less likely to back out.

Keep Yourself Accountable

Another way to help you to fulfill these resolutions is to track your progress. There are multiple ways you can go about doing this, whether it’s writing it down in your journal, or keeping a digital copy on your computer. Making sure you are committed to this will make you want to keep up the good work especially when you feel like giving up.

Motivate Yourself

If you realize that you’re having trouble sticking to these resolutions, find ways to motivate and encourage yourself. The last thing you want is to feel disheartened and give up halfway. So treat yourself to your favorite meal or buy yourself something you’ve always wanted every time you’ve reached a certain milestone. New Year resolutions don’t always have to be not accomplishable, so let us know down below what are your best tips on getting started!
